    Join the  Academic, Industrial & Research Radiation Section of the Health Physics Society at the 


    The Academic, Industrial & Research Radiation Section (AIRRS) of the Health Physics Society will have an interactive exhibit at the  2018 USA Science and Engineering Festival (SciFest). SciFest’s mission is to stimulate and sustain the interest of our nation’s youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by producing and presenting the most compelling, exciting and educational Festival in the world.

    SciFest is organized by Science Spark, a 501(c)(3) non-profit science outreach organization, and is funded through corporate sponsorships, government grants, and private donations.  The Festival is free of charge to attendees.  Fuel your curiosity at!

    When:  Friday, April 6 (9 AM to 3 PM), pre-registered attendees
    Saturday, April 7 (10 AM to 6 PM)
    Sunday, April 8 (10 AM to 4 PM)

    Where:  Washington, DC Convention Center 


    AIRRS is going to need help with planning, setting up, and running our booth.  Volunteers will work a 2-hour shift so you don’t need to be there the whole time.  You will find it fun and rewarding event!

    The 26th Annual Meeting of the Council on Ionizing Radiation Measurements and Standards will focus on Radiation Technologies for the Future.

    For more than twenty years, CIRMS has played an important role in serving as a public forum for discussion of radiation measurements and standards issues for industry, academia and government. 

    The technical program will consist of oral and poster presentations and three parallel working group sessions that address measurement and standards needs in the following topics:

    • Medical Applications 
      diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, radiation biology, nuclear medicine, proton therapy, fluoroscopy, real time imaging for orthopedic applications
    • Radiation Protection and Homeland Securityradiochemistry, waste analysis, personnel dosimetry, electronic dosimeters, bioassay and internal dosimetry environmental dosimetry, first responder needs
    • Industrial Applications and Materials Effects 
      dosimetry for radiation processing, radiobiology, low dose standards, safety at radiation facilities, food irradiation

    Participants are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentation and possible presentation during the working group sessions.
