Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the Health Physics Society. Applications for membership are accepted from any person engaged in a field of work related to radiation protection or radiation science, or whose participation would simply benefit the chapter. Membership in the national organization of the Health Physics Society, while encouraged, is not a requirement for membership in our local chapter.
New members can register and pay their initial dues using the form below. Please select the most appropriate membership category below. Current members who need to renew their membership should log in to this site, click the Renew button and pay the renewal invoice. Questions about membership should be sent to the chapter's Membership or Affiliate Director as appropriate.
Plenary membership is our general membership category. Applicants who are members of the Health Physics Society are automatically eligible to become plenary members of our local chapter upon registration and payment of annual dues. All other applications will be accepted at the discretion of the Membership Director.
Affiliate membership is open to companies, groups, and organizations interested in the field of radiation protection, subject to acceptance by our Affiliate Director. To learn more about the benefits of Affiliate Membership please contact our Affiliate Director. Please visit our Affiliates page to see a list of our current Affiliates. Each Affiliate organization can designate one individual as their organization's representative. This individual is offered complimentary plenary membership in the chapter and will be listed on our Affiliates page.
Student membership is open to students who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate training program related to a health physics discipline. Applicants for student membership should request a professor or advisor send an email to the Membership Director attesting their full-time student or trainee status. Proof of student or trainee status must be demonstrated each year upon membership renewal. Student members do not have voting privileges.
While online applications are preferred, you may also apply using one of the forms below. Please mail the completed form along with your check payment to the address listed below. All checks should be made payable to the "BWCHPS". You may also choose to submit your application to any officer at one of our chapter meetings. If you mail your application, please notify the Membership or Affiliate Director by email so that we know to check our mailbox.
